Built over the course of 200 years and rebuilt three times due to earthquake damage, the Cathedral is the religious and spiritual heart of the city. Return to the hotel.

Day 2
Santiago, Chile
The Singular Santiago Breakfast, Lunch

A Taste of Santiago

Our invitation today is to see Chile's capital city from a different perspective. Spend the day with the local Chef María José Neut who studied culinary art in Chile's capital city before her departure to Asia and Middle East where she explored new cultures and discovered exotic flavors acquiring a unique experience. She will pick you up at the hotel and lead you to your waiting vehicle for a short drive to a typical street market, passing on route through some of the city's most iconic areas such as Bellavista, El Bosque or Borderío neighborhoods. On arrival to the market stroll past the colorful stalls, getting to know the wide variety of fruits and vegetables available, feel the pulse of Santiago's citizens; observe the many aromas and colours and share with friendly Chileans. Today's menu depends entirely on the season, but fish and seafood of Chile's 3,000 miles long coast are favourites. Continue then to María Jose's apartment where we invite you to enjoy an aperitif (such as the emblematic Pisco Sour) along with some appetizers. Join Maria Jose in the kitchen where you can roll up your sleeves and take part in the preparation of today's menu, which will be served with the appropriate wines, or just sit back and relax as you sip your cocktail. Salud!

Day 3
Santiago, Chile
Casablanca, Chile
Valparaíso, Chile
Casona Matetic Breakfast, Lunch

Valparaiso & Casablanca

After a leisurely breakfast departure from Santiago to the Casablanca valley. This valley has earned worldwide recognition due to the high quality of its grapes and wines. The warm, temperate climate of the area and the sea breezes rolling down the valley onto the coastal plain make for the perfect terroir. The best grapes of this valley are Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, although lighter reds such as Pinot Noir are rapidly gaining notoriety. Your first stop today will be at vineyard Veramonte.

where you will enjoy a tour around the vineyards and tasting on their exclusive winecellar.

You will continue later to the city port of Valparaiso to explore its cobbled street and colorful houses spreed all along the differents hills. Valparaiso, is the second-largest city in Chile, it enjoys a spectacular location between the mountains and the sea.

Valparaiso is a historic port and university town, famous for its more than 50 small hills which are covered in quaint, colorful old houses. The hills are connected by an ingenious network of twisting streets, stairways, cable car lines, flower filled balconies and lookout platforms, a unique cityscape with spectacular views of the bay from which the city takes its name.

Your walking tour shows you the old and new town, visiting the “Plaza de la Victoria” with its lovely Neptune Fountain, the famous Turri Clock, the docks and fisherman's' wharf and the Naval Academy. A highlight for this day will surely be the Chilean Nobel Prize-winning poet Pablo Neruda's Valparaiso residence, "La Sebastiana". The house was restored exactly as Neruda would have kept it and has now been open to the public for well over twenty years filled with color, nooks and staircases as if Valparaiso itself was in house form.

After your visit of Valparaiso you will head to hotel La Casona, located inside vineyard Matetic

Day 4
Casablanca, Chile
Casona Matetic Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast, you will have time to take one of the activities available at the lodge. Horse-back riding, trekking or bike tours are available for you to explore the beautiful lands of the vineyard.

During your visit, it is also included a visit and wine tasting the wine cellar of the vineyard. The Matetic family owns the entire Valle de Rosario Estate, which has a luxurious but rustic-looking guesthouse at one end, an impressive, hi-tech wine cellar at the other. The family history starts in Punta Arenas, at the end of the 19th century, with the arrival to Chile of Jorge Matetic Cetinja. Armed with a tremendous spirit of adventure, this Croatian immigrant sailed from Europe to settle in the far southern part of America. This same spirit of adventure is what led the company into the wine-growing business in 1999, in the firm belief that climatic characteristics associated with the kind of soil and light in this part of the country could produce high quality wines. How correct they were. Due to its geographic location, its temperate coastal Mediterranean climate has a strong ocean influence, with significant thermal fluctuations during the day – 20 degrees in the ripening period. The temperature normally rises quickly during the morning, until noon, when a soft ocean breeze helps maintain an average 26 degrees during the summer, a temperature that is ideal for the ripening of grapes..

Lunch and dinner will be included today at La Casona. .

It's not all about learning, however. You will have the chance to feast upon the fruits of your labor with special wines hand selected by us to pair with your personal creations.

In due time, transfer from your hotel to Mendoza airport (MDZ), local guide and a private vehicle.

Upon arrival at Buenos Aires airport you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel.

Sightseeing tour around the North area of the city:

This is one of Buenos Aires’ most elegant districts and at its heart is Alvear Avenue, home to some of the most exclusive buildings, hotels and boutiques in town, including the Four Seasons and its Alzaga Unzue Mansion; the Brazilian Embassy, a building that took almost 20 years to be built and borrowed details from the Palais Fontainebleau in France; the French Embassy, a beautiful example of the Belle Époque style and, of course, the Alvear Palace Hotel. Along its main avenue, guests can drop by the many luxury brand stores that have set up shop.

Stop by Nuestra Señora del Pilar Church and the Recoleta Cemetery, known for its rich architecture and famous characters from Argentine history and society buried there.

What makes this cemetery so remarkable is the architectural significance of its monuments and mausoleums as well as the number of historical and artistic celebrities whose remains rest behind its wrought-iron gates.

Day 9
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Palacio Duhau - Park Hyatt Buenos Aires Breakfast, Dinner

Explore the highlights of the South area of this magnificent city in a five-hour sightseeing tour accompanied by one of our experienced representatives who will introduce you to the history and culture of Buenos Aires, showing you the most significant spots.

Discover the most important square of the country: Plaza de Mayo (May Square). Here, where the country was founded in 1580, the most important governmental buildings are located, including the Casa Rosada (Government house), the Cabildo (City Hall) and the Catedral Metropolitana (Metropolitan Cathedral). Nowadays it is possible to visit the Government Palace, so if you are interested, we will join one of the regular groups to tour the building.

Walking down Defensa Street we will enter San Telmo, one of the oldest areas of the city. This neighborhood maintains a great part of its architectonic patrimony intact: colonial style houses, cobbled streets and a bustling collection of artists’ studios, ethnic restaurants, antique shops and boutiques. We will walk through the oldest and narrowest streets of this protected colonial district, with its famous cobbled streets to Plaza Dorrego. Discover the XIX century Buenos Aires. The area is home to some of the most important antique shops.

Stop at a local Market “Mercado de San Telmo”, one of the famous landmarks of San Telmo, is a massive market that provides a good mix of products ranging from antiques and clothing shops to fruit and vegetable stands, butchers shops and bakeries. Carmelo, Uruguay
Colonia, Uruguay

Poignant sights include Calle de los Suspiros (Street of Sighs), Puerta del Campo, and the Plaza Mayor 25 de Mayo, places to wander and discover the past that can still be felt in the cobble-stones and stone walls. The Calera de las Huérfanas ruins are also located near to Colonia.

In our recent trip to Patagonia we were delighted with A&K assistance. In our first stop in Bariloche Ms. Bejarano, the guide who transported us back and forth from the airport was helpful and informed. In Calafate besides airport assistance, Christian Soto was our guide for a day tour to the glaciers. He should be commended as an exceptional guide, offering fascinating information about the site and Calafate history more broadly.

We used A & K while in Buenos Aires for 4 full days of customized tours and transfer services from ship to hotel , then hotel to airport. Our guide, Matias, was with us all 4 days - we could not have asked for more professionalism, enthusiasm, and careful attention. His use of the English language was excellent, and his knowledge of the area, its history, culture, traditions and such were top shelf. During the 4 days we had 3 different drivers - and each was also very professional, and extremely proficient at weaving our way, safely and seamlessly, to each destination. It perhaps sums it up to say that we had such a positive experience with A & K in Buenos Aires, that we chose to extend our time with Matias on the final day by five additional hours, to take us on yet another driving tour of the city prior - to taking us to the airport for a late evening departure. We would definitely choose A & K again, with great confidence, anywhere - world-wide.

Had a half day tour that, due to good traffic, lasted 3 hours. Reasonably enthusiastic guide. Main point of interest was cemetery. Stop at port was perfunctory to give guides break. 45 minutes in 1 block market was too much allotted time.

There was a blip picking us up at the Santiago airport, but the AK office immediately got in touch and gave a refund. The rest of the services at various ports were quite good, but I do question the prices . Also, at two, maybe three, places the AK guide have us questionaires to be filled out in front of the guide and handed in then. A bit tacky? Also, in one port, famous for empanands, we were taken to a service station that served empanadas akin to those little paper-bagged pastries at 7-11's. Thank goodness we have more opportunities for this treat.

Buenos Aires: wonderful A&K guide who provided knowledgeable insights and information on the city. Friendly, engaging and patient, couldn't have asked for a better guide. If there was one area of improvement, her knowledge of restaurants was limited. Iguacu Falls: ditto here. Was superb as a guide. Given these experience, I may ask for more A&K guides when available.

Abercrombie & Kent were so amazing from start to finish. We got off the plane in a city that we had never been to and were met by Selena of A&K who was waiting for us along with a private driver. We were dropped off at the hotel and along the way we were given helpful tips about Buenos Aires and Argentina. Selena was very knowledgeable about the city and it showed during out tours. After 3 days in Buenos Aires Selena dropped us off at the terminal and we then took a flight to Mendoza where we were met by Noellia. Noellia, like Selena, was so nice and personable and knew the Mendoza region very well. It also didn't hurt that Noellia is a sommelier when she took us on 3 days of wine tours. Noellia also kept notes about what the wineries would tell us and she would elaborate on some of the intricacies of wine making. Overall, A&K was awesome and we could not be happier to have them be out guides.

A & K put together a good tour. What was spectacular was the tour guide, Richard Matto. Things that could be improved is Queenstown Hotel, The Milford Sound Resort, which was outside Queenstown and WAS NOT AIR CONDITIONED. THERE WERE NO FANS IN THE ROOMS EITHER. SWELTERING HOT BOX! Also, the Pullman Hotel In Cairns was mediocre and we did not go to the Great Barrier Reef for snorkeling--a sub inlet-- and snorkeling was lousy. Rest of the tour was fine!

Eddie made sure we got to see both sides of the falls and on our last day, after it had rained...said, we must go back to the falls this AM....for the rainbow. Pictures and views of a lifetime. The same when we landed in Rio and met Marcelo our guide and Leandro, our driver. We only had 1 night and we wanted to see Christ the Redeemer at sunset, the city lights and then Sugar Loaf the next day on our way to the airport. He made it all happen..caught the right train, was readily available to take pictures..our bucket list was a 10++. Both Guides were knowledge about what we were seeing and brought it to life. Both were excellent as were the drivers - we came knowing no one but made friends in just 3 days that we will never see again...only in our memory and pictures. Thank you A&K! Airport VIP service was awesome!

We were so impressed by each of the guides we had on the trip. We had private tours in each of the cities we visited. Each of the guides was incredibly well educated and knowledgeable of each of the sites we visited. They were also a very good resource for restaurants.

Very good experience, the tour guide (Elizabeth) was exceptional, very professional, top quality service and attention to the minimum detail. We felt very relaxed throughout our day tours and transfers to the airports back and forth.
